As always, Good Luck and Play Responsibly

This is the 17th edition of the Super 5. The Super 5 Record YTD sits at 32-55-1 with a Top Choice record of 8-8-1. Pursuant to the CCHC which started a month and change ago, the Super 5 from Darkseid Sports sits at 13-25, 4-2 Top Choice, 15 Points. The scoring is 1 point per win, half point per push, 1.5 points per Top Choice win. Very sadly and to the lamest extent possible, the competition has been made a private, illegitimate endeavor behind a paywall.
The premise of the Super 5 is to release my 5 best positions — which I bet myself with my own money, anybody who tells you otherwise is lying and wouldn’t say it to my face— across College Basketball’s best leagues. This competition is (usually) not one for action on smaller leagues. I do this to be better prepared for the NCAAT, which we are now deep into. Since I am totally excluded publicly in the sports betting space, I mirrored my results against contestants in the CCHC, which has an astute field.

College Basketball is great. There is a public appetite for CBB given the shortcomings of the professional game. Big numbers this tournament.

RANDOM CBB X POSTS

Duke getting Maliq Brown back for the Sweet 16 or beyond would be key.
Follow Dick Vitale on X. Big Sweet 16 matchup here.
The big news locally in the CBB world. I’m ok with this hire. The Rebels have to get it right. He’s an upgrade from the last I just don’t think there are many better options there with Pastner’s credentials and within UNLV’s reach.
Fascinating read. Follow Ross Dellenger on X.
SATURDAY SUPER 5 RECORD: 32-55-1 TOP CHOICE RECORD: 8-8-1
CCHC REFLECTIVE: 13-25, 4-2, 15 Points

I acknowledge the results haven’t been there and this term is a loss in totality. This is not what I am accustomed to in this market. But I’m in it to finish strong, and back or fade, I stand behind my contents and how I present my actions. I sell you nothing. I’ve been nothing but open and transparent. I am a feel good story. Right then, The Plays. -T

THURSDAY/FRIDAY

— Maryland at FLORIDA (-6)

It’s the Gators for me Thursday outside two possessions. I think Maryland ran its race to win at the buzzer in the R32 and I expect UF to be more buttoned-up here in the immediate aftermath of the UCONN joust.

GATORS KEY METRICS:

  • 26-10 ATS. 3rd nationally T-REB, 7th O-REB, 10th 3PT%/A, 14th FG%/A, 29th AST/TO
  • MARY: 172nd O-REB

— Ole Miss at MICHIGAN STATE (-3.5)

I’ll back the Spartans inside two possessions. This is Tom Izzo time. As much as I was against MSU getting the field last year, with that same energy I can say Michigan State has had a big year. Respect.

SPARTANS KEY METRICS:

  • 24-10 ATS. 2nd nationally 3PT%/A, 11th T-REB, 19th FT%
  • MISS: 208th nationally FG%, 316th T-REB, 309th O-REB

Kentucky at TENNESSEE (-4.5)

I’ll back the VOLS inside two possessions here. I know UK has had success against this opponent (7-3 ATS L10 H2H). I just don’t care.

VOLUNTEERS KEY METRICS:

  • 1st nationally 3PT%/A, 3rd FG%/A, 7th D-REB
  • UK: 176th FG%, 200th O-REB, 244th D-REB

MICHIGAN (+9.5) at Auburn

I think Michigan can parachute inside a number or better. The Wolverines have beaten me 2x this tourney. I’ll back them as heavy dogs here. Auburn has been on a slow decent for weeks.

WOLVERINES KEY METRICS:

  • 7-3 S/U L10. 24th nationally T-REB, 39th FG%, 39th FG%/A
  • AUB: N/A. The metrics favor Auburn here.

POTENCY PLAY (9-6 YTD)

The nationally recognized P2 serves as the “And One”…the 6th play of the day.

— Purdue at HOUSTON (-8)

I’m calling on UH to lay the business here. A fine team. Can’t make a case for Purdue. The Boilermakers get a sensational ascension in class here from High Point and McNeese State. Should be all Cougars. This could be a desecration you guys.

COUGARS KEY METRICS

  • 4th nationally 3PT%, 4th FG%/A, 8th TO
  • PUR: 314th T-REB, 243rd O-REB, 141st FT%
It’s time for the Super 5 (and one!) Top Choice for the Sweet 16.

— Arizona at DUKE (-9.5)

**For the CCHC Reflective, where only one Top Choice can be selected for the weekly ledger, Duke will serve as the Sweet 16 Top Choice**

Duke is a level clear of Arizona. The Blue Devils already covered this number in a H2H situational on the Wildcats home court this term. Arizona did well to ascend to a better place this season, but the show is over Thursday. Lay it. Play it.

BLUE DEVILS KEY METRICS:

  • 24-12 ATS. 5th nationally AST/TO, 6th FG%/A, 16th FT%, 17th TO, 18th FG%
  • UA: 303rd nationally 3PT%, 162nd TO

LEAN/PASS (CUT): Texas Tech ATS

BETTORS’ NOTE: If a number goes against me and a re-bet is appropriate, I’ll post the corresponding actions on my X account. This hold true for ATS + TSR markets.
My Futures (National Title winner) portfolio for this CBB season. We’re talking steakhouse visits or pizza parties-level investment. Nothing of supremely major stuff here. If you tail, even if at lesser odds, good luck and play responsibly.

DUKE 9:1

Got in preseason and collected paper tickets from all over. Missed out on 10:1.

Follow Collin on X. I’m amassing CLV with the Blue Devils.
If you follow me on X then you know I had plans for Duke. Of course that would include Chip investment. 2/3rds of the prediction is complete.

TEXAS A&M 55, 60:1 (LOSS)

Collected in paper form from January to mid-February.

WISCONSIN 100:1 (LOSS)

Collected casually in small increments from early January to the line falling off a cliff late January into early February .

ADD: VCU 250:1 (LOSS)

You want to get weird? Let’s get weird. I like VCU out of the A10 wholesale. It’s a “Beverage Dollars Play” on VCU at a price for me. If you were paying attention, you would know VCU was a part of the Teaser Speical series at points during the term.

REGIONAL ACTIONS (TO WIN)

WEST: ST. JOHN’S 6:1 (LOSS)

MIDWEST: TENNESSEE +370

It’s time for your history lesson, folks.

Team of the Week

I decided to go random with this week TOTW for the College Basketball History Spotlight.

Player of the Week

Bet MGM poses a great question, but for me the choice is clear. It’s Hansbrough.

MOREOVER…

A November tournament with Las Vegas ties. Ok. Cool. I’m down.
I am for anything which brings more events — and more College Basketball — to Las Vegas. Sports Tourism matters here bigly now.

GAMING PSA

Darkseid Sports is in agreement with the NCAA on this matter. Be a pro. Act like you’ve been there before. There is no place for harassing the student-athlete and that’s something I don’t do nor would condone. It’s one thing to playfully chide a *team* after a bet gone bad but to seek players out specifically — in any collegiate sport — is very weird and below board. Good day. -T

MY TAKE

I didn’t like RJ/Josh Pastner/Baggage piece it ran. This rag once ruined UNLV Hoops. It’s lame to hear from them in such a negative light. Maybe all these years later it’s time for the RJ to sit this one out. Follow me on X.
