As always, Good Luck and Play Responsibly

This is the 13th edition of the Super 5. The Super 5 Record YTD sits at 24-35-1 with a Top Choice record of 6-5-1. Pursuant to the CCHC which started three weeks ago, the Super 5 from Darkseid Sports sits at 6-9, 2-1 Top Choice, 7 Points. The scoring is 1 point per win, half point per push, 1.5 points per Top Choice win.
The premise of the Super 5 is to release my 5 best positions — which I bet myself with my own money — across College Basketball’s bigger leagues. This competition is (usually) not one for action on smaller leagues. I do this to be better prepared for March. IF I do dip into the lower leagues, it’s to fulfill S5 requirements. Since I am totally excluded publicly in the space, I mirror my results against contestants in the CCHC. If they want to focus on smaller league so be it. The thing about that is: most bettors have no interest betting those games
It was an easy watch and a fine documentary. Great memories. “The Yuppie Assassin” they called him. One of the sport’s most regal players to ever do it.
The current CCHC standings after three weeks. A quality field.

CBB PRIMER

I touted VCU in the futures market and it has been featured in previous S5 publishes. The Rams are now getting casual interest in the Final Four market.

RANDOM CBB X POSTS

Showdown Saturday in a weakened ACC. I personally think UNC-CH gets in, but many astute minds are saying it’s a must-win for the UNC-CH tourney hopes. Follow the venerable Dick Weiss on X.

Prominent figures in the sport are advocating for quarters. My take: I’m indifferent and haven’t thought about it much. I am nostalgic to the current system but am open to change. One change I am not open to is expanding the NCAAT.
The ascension of the Johnnies is the biggest story in College Basketball today.
SATURDAY SUPER 5 RECORD: 24-35-1 TOP CHOICE RECORD: 6-5-1
CCHC REFLECTIVE: 6-9, 2-1, 7 Points

LOYOLA (CHI) -2.5 at UMASS

UMASS doesn’t do it for me. It’s a play on a solid Loyola program in the early window Saturday.

RAMBLERS KEY METRICS:

  • UMASS: 7 home losses. 333rd nationally FG%, 361st 3PT%
  • LOY: 98th nationally FG%, 72nd 3PT%
  • 104th FG%/A
  • 96th AST/TO

SMU (-1.5) at Florida State

It’s the Mustangs for me Saturday. I got to it at open. I considered it for Top Choice but felt it would be bad form to do so citing the big line move.

MUSTANGS KEY METRICS:

  • 28th nationally FG%, 19th 3PT%, 48th FG%/A, 43rd T-REB, 56th O-REB, 74th AST/TP
  • FSU: 307th 3PT%, 238th TO

VIRGINIA (+1.5) at Syracuse

IDK I just keep fading Syracuse. I don’t like their metrics. Very manageable spot for Virginia.

CAVALIERS KEY METRICS:

  • 34th nationally TO, 29th AST/TO, 66th FT%
  • SYR: 309th nationally FG%/A, 234th FT%, 250th TO

HOUSTON (-4.5) at Baylor

Big season for UH. Can’t fathom a letdown Saturday in Waco.

COUGARS KEY METRICS:

  • 5th nationally FG%/A, 9th TO, 41st O-REB
  • BAY: 288th 3PT%/A, 149th TO
It’s time for the Super 5 Top Choice for this College Basketball Saturday.

GEORGETOWN (-1) at DePaul

DePaul should have that Hoya Paranoia Saturday in servitude of the day’s Top Choice.

HOYAS KEY METRICS:

  • DEP: 8 home losses. 281st nationally FG%/A, 276th 3PT%/A, 243rd TO
  • GTOWN: 82nd nationally FG%/A, 116th O-REB

LEAN/PASS (CUT): St. John’s at MARQUETTE (-1.5), tOSU (+2) at Indiana

Duke/UNC-CH Under 163.5

My Futures (National Title winner) portfolio for this CBB season. We’re talking steakhouse visits or pizza parties-level investment. Nothing of supremely major stuff here. If you tail, even if at lesser odds, good luck and play responsibly.

DUKE 9:1

Got in preseason and collected paper tickets from all over. Missed out on 10:1.

If you follow me on X then you know I had plans for Duke. Of course that would include Chip investment.

TEXAS A&M 55, 60:1

Collected in paper form from January to the recent line move in mid-February.

WISCONSIN 100:1

Collected casually in small increments from early January to the line falling off a cliff last month. I still like UW-Madison as much or more than anyone in the B1G.

ADD: VCU 250:1

You want to get weird? Let’s get weird. I like VCU out of the A10 wholesale. It’s a “Beverage Dollars Play” on VCU at a price for me. If you were paying attention, you would know VCU was a part of the Teaser Speical series at points during the term. They’ve now garnered plenty of casual media run.

VCU is getting respect now in media circles. There should be no scenario where VCU doesn’t make the Tourney.

TEAM of the WEEK

*A new series featuring great teams of yesteryear in College Basketball*

The best. I don’t know. I’m hard pressed to think of a better team in my 44 years of life. Special.
