— DUKE 9:1
Got in preseason and collected paper tickets from all over. Missed out on 10:1. The thinking was simple: why not dream the impossible dream with Cooper Flagg? Maybe his ascension would include a national title? Stranger things. As it turns out, he’s the best player in America and Duke has a shot. The Blue Devils are balanced and whilst potent offensively, this Duke side defends and defends superbly. The health of forward Mailq Brown is key as March soon come.
— TEXAS A&M 55, 60:1
Collected in paper form from January to the recent line move in mid-February. Let’s go over the negatives first: 315th nationally FG%, 312th 3PT% and 298th FT%. These are not metrics I normally endorse or invest on. But what the Aggies do well, they do masterfully: 2nd nationally O-REB, 18th T-REB, 31st D-REB/A. The Aggies defend as it ranks 18th nationally in FT%-A. They are relentless on the glass, have won on the road, seem to play to the moment and Buzz Williams has them punching above its weight.
— WISCONSIN 100:1
Collected casually in small increments from early January to recent line cliff-fall. UW-Madison is the top FT% team nationally — a statistic which matters to me. It’s T80 and T55 respectively in FG%/3PT%. This is not your classic brand of Wisconsin basketball. These guys can score and, specifically, guard John Tonje (19.6, 4.8, 1.8 per AOTW) is an NBA prospect who has the ability to create his own shot. I like UW-Madison as much or more than anyone in the B1G.
